Collaborations and partnerships

While SynGenome contains a large number of total sequences, there may be fewer sequences in the database for your function of interest. If you are interested in conducting a semantic design project beyond the scale of SynGenome, please reach out as we are eager to collaborate. A design project could be a good contender for semantic design if:

  1. Your desired function is encoded by prokaryotic or phage genomes. These could include nucleases, protein-based antimicrobials, transposons, polymerases, DNA/RNA binding proteins, or metabolic enzymes.

  2. You have a simple low- to medium-throughput experimental pipeline for testing your desired function. While higher throughput is usually better, we have had experimental success rates of 17-50% screening 10-84 designs.

Outcomes from this process may include: (1) the diversification of existing proteins to design new, higher activity variants; (2) identifying the function of a natural protein of unknown function; or (3) the design of functional proteins with low homology to nature.
